Edurne Cardenas

Edurne Cárdenas is a feminist activist and human rights specialist with twenty years of experience in international human rights law, with a strong focus on women’s rights and advocacy. She has worked in both governmental and non-governmental organizations, leading advocacy strategies in public policy and monitoring the fulfillment of international commitments by States. She played a key role in the creation of the first Ministry of Women, Gender and Diversity in Argentina, where she served as Director of Institutional Relations.

Throughout her career, she has combined international legal frameworks with research, education and policymaking to advance the human rights agenda. Her work encompasses regional and international advocacy, legal and policy analysis, and alliance building throughout Latin America. From 2022 to 2024, she was a member of the Ipas LAC team as Partnership Coordinator. Since 2023, she has been a member of the UN Women Civil Society Advisory Group for the Americas and the Caribbean. She currently resides in Ghana, where she continues her commitment to equity, justice and transformative social change.
