The Technical Guidelines for Safe Abortion Care in Mexico, 2026 Edition, provides guidance on the organization and delivery of services for women and people capable of pregnancy, including girls and adolescents. Published by the Ministry of Health, it sets forth clinical, legal, and operational criteria for providing timely, comprehensive, high-quality, and person-centered care.
This update includes content on pain management, ectopic pregnancy, care during advanced stages of pregnancy, and telemedicine. It also reinforces the human rights, gender, and reproductive justice perspectives.
At Ipas Latin America and the Caribbean, we celebrate this progress and advocate for its implementation as part of our regional commitment to effective access to safe abortion.
