We design our programs based on their needs, aware that gender, race and class inequalities hinder access to essential services in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Central America, five countries prohibit abortion in all its forms, exposing women and girls to severe risks. This criminalization perpetuates a human rights crisis, leaving millions without safe options. <\/span><\/p>\n

Every year, 4.4 million unsafe abortions occur in Latin America, contributing to 17% of maternal deaths (WHO, 2023). In the face of this reality, we fight to break down the barriers that impede access to essential health services, ensuring that reproductive autonomy is a reality for all. <\/span><\/p>\n

At Ipas LAC we weave alliances and work to guarantee the reproductive rights of women and people with gestational capacity, as well as to strengthen access to abortion in Latin America through health services, support networks and self-management of the procedure.<\/p>\n

Pathways to safe abortion<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At Ipas LAC, we recognize that there are a variety of avenues through which women and people of childbearing capacity can access safe abortion and exercise their right to reproductive freedom, self-determination and choice. Strengthening these options is key to ensuring that all people can make informed decisions and access safe services. <\/p>\n
