When the health (physical, mental or social) of the pregnant person is affected by the pregnancy

In this case, abortion serves to prevent serious harm or adverse effects on the health of the pregnant person. Article 1 BIS of the General Health Law defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
