It is the health care provider’s responsibility to inform about contraceptive methods to prevent unwanted pregnancy in the short, medium or long term.

Counseling is more than the provision of information; it involves a focused and interactive process whereby the service user receives voluntary support, as well as unbiased information and guidance on methods to avoid unwanted pregnancy.

Individuals, including adolescents and young people, have the right to decide whether to use a contraceptive method and to select their preferred method, based on correct and accurate information, taking into account their personal needs and choices.
