In the state there are five other situations, called grounds, that allow people to request and access a safe abortion legally, without penalties and without abortion being considered a crime, regardless of the number of weeks of gestation.
Eligibility criteria are specific situations in which the law allows individuals to request a safe abortion procedure, regardless of gestational age. In these cases, health care providers and their staff must support them in identifying and facilitating their care, without adding to the requirements set forth in the law or imposing obstacles or barriers to access.
