In this ground, the abortion has the function of preventing serious damage or harm to the health of the pregnant person. People can have an abortion when there is the potential for the pregnancy to cause harm to health, for example, if prior to pregnancy they have a health condition that could be aggravated, if during pregnancy they acquire a health condition that could be aggravated, or when the pregnancy prevents the continuation of some medical treatment.
